Deciding to straighten your teeth is the hard part. The treatment itself is more straightforward than most people expect. Here's what the clear aligner journey looks like at Middle Ridge Family Dental, from the first visit to the last.

## Step 1: Your free consultation

It starts with a conversation. We look at your teeth, ask what you'd like to change, and let you know whether clear aligners are a good fit for you. This first consultation is **free**, so you can find out where you stand before committing to anything.

If your case is more complex than aligners can handle — for example, if it needs extractions — we'll tell you honestly and point you to an orthodontist in Toowoomba. We only take on cases we're confident we can treat well.

## Step 2: Digital scan and treatment plan

If aligners are right for you, we take a digital scan of your teeth and design your treatment — mapping out how your teeth will move, set by set. Every plan is reviewed by an independent orthodontist before any aligners are made, so there's specialist oversight behind your treatment.

## Step 3: Wearing your aligners

You'll receive your series of custom trays. The routine is simple:

- Wear each set most of the day and night.
- Take them out to eat, to drink anything other than water, and to brush and floss.
- Swap to the next set on the schedule we give you.

You may feel mild pressure for a day or two with each new set. That's normal — it's your teeth moving into place.

## Step 4: Check-ins

You'll come in periodically so we can make sure everything is tracking the way it should. These visits are quick. If anything needs adjusting, we sort it out early.

## Step 5: Retainers

Once your teeth are where you want them, the active treatment is done — but there's one more important step. Teeth can drift back over time, so you'll wear a retainer to hold your new smile in place. Think of it as protecting the investment you just made.

## How long does it all take?
